President: Tom Rodgers
 |
Tom graduated from Duquesne University with BA in Economics and
Philosophy. He then served on active duty reaching the rank of
Captain, USAF, where he was awarded The Bronze Star for service
in SE Asia and Vietnam. While in service he obtained his MBA
from Monmouth College. Recently retired, Tom led a Mechanical
Contracting firm covering 30 years in Virginia, Michigan and
finally, Maryland.
Tom resides in Catonsville with Toi, his lovely wife of more
than 40 years. They have three adult children and four
grandchildren. “Beside my family, gardening, theater and a
little golf, personal investing is what helps keep my mind sharp
and gets me out of bed in the morning.” |

Rich is retired from the defense industry, having worked at
Northrop Grumman for 37 years with expertise in RADAR. He has a
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia
University and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from
Johns Hopkins.
Rich is a Life Member of AAII. His main interest is in Mutual
Funds, including ETFs and CEFs and he has been investing since
1985. He uses the core/sandbox approach to investing where the
core follows a disciplined plan and the sandbox is used to
satisfy the urge to tinker. Other interests include volunteer
income tax preparation with VITA/TCE, gardening, cooking, and
working on cars and computers. |

Tom is a native Baltimorean. He attended Baltimore Polytechnic
Institute. He received his undergraduate degree at Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University and his Master of
Engineering Administration degree from George Washington
University. Hi is a Registered Professional Engineer.
Tom is a life member of AAII. He first joined AAII in the early
1990’s. His investments of choice are mutual funds. He is
interested in branching out into exchange traded funds and using
the internet and computers for investment analysis and
investment decision making. |

Vice President: Ron Wells

Ron’s professional career was primarily with the Federal
Government/DoD, initially as an Electrical Engineer and
concluding as a Program Manager, followed by several more years
working as an engineer with several companies in private
industry. He retired in 2009. He received a BEE from Villanova
University, an MSE from George Washington University, and
advanced graduate work at Harvard University.
Ron has been an investor for over 40 years. While open to new
profitable opportunities, his portfolio consists primarily of
individual stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs. He seeks investments
that provide appreciation, a reasonable risk, and minimal taxes.
His membership in the AAII provides one of his better sources of
objective, unbiased advice and an opportunity for open exchange
of ideas. Consequently, he is a life member. |

Dr. Michael Herr is a native Baltimorean. He received his
undergraduate degree at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) and
received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of
Maryland Medical System (Baltimore, MD). He maintains a private
practice in ophthalmology in Glen Burnie, MD. He recently served
as Chief of Ophthalmology at the Baltimore-Washington Medical
Center and he is an ophthalmology consultant for the Washington
Capitals (NHL).
Dr. Herr has always had an interest in statistics and the stock
market. He has been making his own investment decisions for over
25 years. He is an avid reader and bases his 'growth at a
reasonable price' investment style on the writings of William
O'Neil, Burton Malkiel, and Martin Zweig. A member of AAII since
2002, he is now a lifetime member. |

President Emeritus: Susan Fanti
 |
Susan is a retired Medical Technologist. She began investing in
mutual funds in the 1980's. In 1996, when she and a friend
founded an investment club, her focus became fundamental
analysis and individual stocks.
Today, Susan is a student of Optionetics who hopes to use her
interest in technical analysis and options to protect her
portfolio and enhance its returns. |
